  • What better time is there to visit New York City then spring? A freshness permeates the air between the gray winter and the sweltering summer, so take your loved one and go spend a romantic spring weekend in NYC. A New York City weekend is easy to do and filled with good food, a show, some shopping, and some romantic time alone.

NYC is easy enough to get to, most major cities have plenty of flights every day so you can arrive and depart at your convenience. Once you get there, the city is yours. But it does pay to do a little pre-planning.

A good idea for a weekend is to pick one restaurant ahead of time for dinner, and choose one while you are there. You can do some research beforehand either online or by asking friends who have been there before. Make some reservations for the first night you are there. Then you have the next day to ask around and find another great restaurant to suit your tastes. You can ask the concierge at your hotel, the server at your first restaurant, or you may find just the right place during a casual stroll.

Another good thing to do ahead is purchasing your theater tickets. Investigate beforehand, choose your show and go ahead and get your tickets. You will be happy to have the extra time once you get there.

With all of that free time, spend time getting to know the city. Skip the taxis, grab your sweetheart’s hand, and walk, walk, walk. Make sure you hit the biggies, like Central Park and 5th Avenue. Have a cocktail at the Waldorf Astoria or a decadent piece of chocolate from Jacques Torres or La Maison du Chocolate. Then you may want to wander through some of the smaller neighborhoods and get off the beaten path. If you get tired, grab a taxi for the ride back to your hotel.

You will be surprised at how easy the city is to get around, and who knows what treasure you may stumble upon – a great bookstore, a fabulous bakery, or just the romance between the two of you.
